December Kalbarri Trip

Following the success of our inaugural overnight road trip to Kulin in October, TOCWA is pleased to announce an extended long weekend road trip to Kalbarri between Friday 4th and Monday 7th December 2020.

To make the trip a more pleasurable experience, we will be deploying TOCWA’s “Shark-fin” 50kW Tritium fast DC charger in Geraldton so that all participants can rapidly charge their cars there as well as the existing fast DC charger in Jurien Bay.

In order to provide maximum flexibility for all owners interested in participating, we are providing a smorgasbord of six arrival and departure dates from Friday through to Monday. This means that participants can drive to and stay at Kalbarri for one, two or three nights.

Bookings are needed for each car travelling regardless of how many people are travelling in each car – so please only make one booking per car. Our Trybooking site is hopefully self-explanatory in the way it provides for any one of six travel options to be selected. When booking, please provide desired travel times there and back so we can develop an effective charging roster at Jurien Bay and Geraldton.

Members should have received a booking link – please get in touch if you still need it.

At this stage, we are aiming to limit car numbers to about 12, but this may change depending on how many cars intend to travel on each outbound and returning day combination.

November Casual Meetup – Floreat

Our next casual meetup is Wednesday, 4th November at 6:30pm at:

The Floreat Hotel – Howtree Place – Floreat 6014

There currently are no EV chargers at the Floreat Forum which encompasses the Floreat Hotel, although this precinct is an ideal location for the Town of Cambridge to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the proliferation of EV charging infrastructure.

Casual meetups are open to everyone including those who have never seen a Tesla before.

It’s an ideal opportunity to meet club members and to also see the cars in the flesh which we are all passionate about.

We hope to see you there and look forward to chatting about all things Tesla.

October 4th Casual Meetup – Rotary Como Car Show

Our October Casual Meetup will be at the annual Rotary Como Car Show at Wesley College, South Perth. We have a few owners showing their cars, including the Targa-conquering Model 3.

This year the show is on Sunday October 4th, from 10am, Public entry $10 adult, $8 conc., gold coin under 18 – all proceeds to Rotary and Wesley charities.

Feel free to pop past any time for a chat, and also to chat with the many interested members of the public that come along. It’d be great if you’re happy to stay for a bit, and give those owners bringing their cars a break to go get a coffee!

July Fremantle Meetup

Despite the weather, it was great to see some new and old faces in Freo on the weekend. The “cappucino strip” car park chargers were put to good use, and we managed to take over the roof section of the old synagogue café. We also spent some time planning our next road trip – stay tuned for more information soon.

Lancelin Drive Day 28th June

We are pleased to announce a family drive day to Lancelin next Sunday 28th June.

We will be gathering at the Alkimos Tesla Destination charger at The Gateway Shopping Precinct, 15 Graceful Blvd, Alkimos WA 6038, from 10:00am, before driving in convoy to Wangaree Park, 8 Rock Way, Lancelin WA 6044 at about 11:00am.

We expect to arrive at Lancelin at about noon.

Wangaree park has numerous facilities including shaded playground, skate park, gazebos, BBQs and public toilets. There is also a bakery across the street and an IGA around the corner.

Bring a picnic and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at one of Western Australia’s best kept holiday secrets.

June Casual Meetups

It goes without saying that a lot has happened since our last face-to-face casual meetup at Mia Cucina Café back in March this year. Between then and now, we have held two virtual casual meetups, a charging seminar and a joint AEVA/TOCWA charging infrastructure meeting – all utilizing the Zoom platform.

Last Friday the WA government announced a 100/300 rule for bars, restaurants and cafes and a reduced 2 square metre rule.

To that end, we a planning a phased return to normal face-to-face casual meetups starting at the Floreat Beach EV charger carpark adjacent to The Kiosk Floreat Beach (Challenger Parade, City Beach 6015) on Sunday, 7th June at 1:00pm. (The PlugShare reference for this charger is )

By primarily holding this meetup in the carpark, we’ll easily be able to maintain physical distancing while being able to duck into the Kiosk/Restaurant to get a coffee or bite to eat.

For those who can’t make it on Sunday (or like many of us, can’t resist a chat), we are also holding a Zoom meetup this Wednesday evening 3rd June at 7:30. See the members section for the Zoom link.

AEVA/TOCWA Fast DC Charging Infrastructure Update

AEVA (WA branch) and TOCWA are pleased to announce a jointly hosted (virtual) meeting to discuss Western Australia’s Fast DC Charging Infrastructure this Wednesday evening 27th May at 7:30.

This meeting will be held using the Zoom platform.

A direct link for the meeting and optional credentials are available in the members section.

We look forward to discussing progress made in the Perth to Esperance Fast DC Fundraiser project as well as how we can all help in progressing implementation of the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategic Planning report of 2018 (which can be found at )

Everything you wanted to know about charging – A virtual meetup

Following the great success of our recent virtual casual meetup, we are pleased to announce that TOCWA will be hosting an EV charging seminar this coming Wednesday evening 20th May at 7:30. Like our previous meetup, we will all be participating online via the Zoom platform.

In the leadup to the seminar, we’re looking to compile a short list of charging questions and pro tips that may be of particular use to our newer members. Please send in any suggestions by noon Wednesday so we can compile them for the seminar.

We look forward to (virtually) seeing everyone on Wednesday – yet again clutching a favourite beverage!

Check out the posting in the Members section for the details to connect.

Lastly, for members who missed out on our first virtual meetup, or those who want to relive the experience, we have posted a video of the Zoom session on our YouTube channel
